Japan is experiencing an unusually hot spell of weather for the time of year.

While not currently proving as dangerous as recent deadly summer heat waves, more than 450 people have been hospitalised in the space of a week.

With air temperature hovering around the upper 30s in Celsius, the country’s meteorological society has created a smart phone app offering advice on heatstroke prevention methods.
