Dozens of people staged mobile protests through neighbourhoods near the iconic Pere Lachaise cemetery in the east of the French capital.

Is this the first time there have been protests?

No.

There were a number of protests during the presidential campaign.

Some anarchist and far-left groups also held occasionally violent protests against both candidates.

Some see the president-elect Emmanuel Macron as too business-friendly and his rival, Marine Le Pen, as tainted by her party’s extreme past.
