Europol says a giant network of hijacked computers suspected of attacking online banking customers has been dismantled.

It is estimated that hundreds of millions of euros were lost.

Around 30 countries were involved in Operation Avalanche – including Germany where the activities were first detected.

Five people were arrested – among them two in Ukraine, where the network is believed to have been coordinated, and another in Berlin.
