Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman was moved from a jail in central Mexico on Saturday to a prison in Ciudad Juarez near the US border, in a move that appears to bring him closer to extradition to the United States.

One of the world’s most wanted drug kingpins, Chapo, or “Shorty” was recaptured in January, six months after breaking out of a Mexican jail through a mile-long tunnel.
He faces charges ranging from money laundering to drug trafficking, kidnapping and murder in cities that include Chicago, Miami and New York.
