The alert is said to have been triggered by a phone call to police. Witnesses said their was no panic.

“We were sitting by Starbucks and wanted to have a coffee when we saw police running, and then my little brother said: ‘That’s not good.’ And then everything was closed and we couldn’t leave anymore,” one witness said.

The security alert was lifted after four hours and bomb disposal teams did not identify any explosives.

The bomb scare came at a time when many European airports are on a heightened security alert following coordinated terrorist attacks on Brussels Airport.
