After a woeful start to the championship in Monte Carlo and Sweden, won by his Volkswagen teammate, the triple world champion Sebastien Ogier, Latvala sped back to form winning 11 of the 21 stages.

He claimed victory by one minute and five seconds.

It was Ogier’s time for frustration, still the Frenchman finished second and leads the table after three races.

Third place went to Spain’s Dani Sordo in the Hyundai two and a half minutes off the lead.
