Deadly day in Yemen as mosque blast kills scores

Yemeni President, Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi led Feast of Sacrifice prayers in Aden, on a day when at least 25 Shi’ite Muslims were killed in a suicide bomb attack on a mosque in the capital Sana’a.

Hadi returned to Yemen on Tuesday after six-months in exile.
The attack happened at the al-Balili Mosque, a place where Houthi Shi’ite rebels pray.

The Yemen-based ISIL affiliate has claimed responsibility.
The killer is believed to have detonated a bomb in his shoe then as chaos reigned he blew himself up killing and maiming.
Yemen is in turmoil, Iran-backed Houthi rebels have seized control of swathes of the country.
While Saudi-backed government forces are battling to regain territory.

ISIL and al-Qaida are taking advantage of the instability to add to the violence.
