Spectacular images from Cape Town capture wildfires that have raged for a fourth day in one of South Africa’s most popular upmarket tourist destinations.

Firefighters and water-bombing helicopters battled to stop the blaze sweeping down the city’s southern peninsula.

Hundreds of residents were evacuated ahead of flames fanned by strong winds and high temperatures.

At least 13 homes were damaged by the fires, along with the five-star Tintswalo Atlantic Lodge perched on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean.

No fatalities or serious injuries have been reported, but dozens of people have been treated for smoke inhalation.
