Wednesday night’s champions league action sees a three-way battle to finish runners up in Group E.

Roma host Manchester City in the final group match with both side’s looking to bag that last 16 spot behind runaway leaders and already-qualified Bayern Munich.

Although the many permutations suggest otherwise it is simple for Roma – it’s a must win game to ensure their progression.

Manchester City who are bottom of the group but on 5 points with Roma and CSKA Moscow, must beat the Italians and hope the Russians of CSKA fail to beat Bayern.

City can also advance to the knockout phase if they secure a score draw in Rome and Moscow lose to Pep Guardiola’s Bayern.

City will be without Premier League top scorer Sergio Aguero who suffered a knee injury last weekend while midfielder Yaya Toure is suspended.

Captain Vincent Kompany, David Silva and Stevan Jovetic could feature after returning from the injury list.

CSKA Moscow meanwhile must beat Bayern and hope Roma lose to City but they will qualify is they and City both win due to their superior head to head record.

In Group F Barcelona and Paris Saint Germain have both qualified already but the pair meet at teh nou Camp to decide who wins the group Ajax and Apoel Nicosia battle it out for the Europa league spot.

In Group G Chelsea booked their last 16 ticket in the penultimate round but finish off against Sporting who have Schalke snapping at their heels for second place – the Germans play Maribor.

Group H is done and dusted with Porto through as winners and Shaktahr runners up.
