At least 12 people were killed and several others wounded in a shooting at Sydney’s Bondi Beach, with one gunman shot dead by police and another arrested.

At least 12 people were killed on Sunday in a shooting at Sydney’s Bondi Beach, Australian authorities said.

Two gunmen opened fire during a crowded public gathering, prompting a large emergency response.

Police said one suspect was fatally shot by officers, while the second was arrested and remains in critical condition.

Several people were wounded, including police officers. Hundreds had gathered at Bondi Beach for an event marking the start of the Jewish Hanukkah festival.

Authorities have not confirmed the motive or target of the attack.
