Queen Elizabeth II of England is advertising for a sous chef who will help to prepare food both at Buckingham Palace and in the other royal residences.

Despite having famously simple tastes in food, the Queen has only opened up the €27,500 per year position to candidates with previous experience in a five-star catering operation, who would not mind being away from London for around three months of the year.

Would-be sous chefs must have a City and Guilds catering qualification – or its equivalent – to be eligible for the role, in which the successful applicant will “help to lead and train the junior chefs to deliver quality fresh food to the highest standards, and (…) also take charge of the kitchen operation when working from smaller kitchens and when deputising for senior colleagues.”
