Former Hungarian politician Bela Biszku has died.
He was the only high-ranking communist-era official to be tried for his role in a deadly crackdown after the 1956 anti-Soviet revolt.
Biszku was part of the Communist Party’s executive committee. It created armed militias which killed dozens.
