If you’re looking for an Easter holiday abroad that won’t break the bank, it’s time to ditch the usual suspects and look further afield.

New research from consumer champion Which? Travel found that Paris, Rome and Venice are the most expensive city breaks in Europe.
But destinations in Turkey, Poland and Portugal are much more budget-friendly – with most offering tempting temperatures too.
Europe’s cheapest city break for Easter is in Turkey
For the ranking, Which? Travel compared the prices of more than 3,000 package holidays from two of the UK’s biggest tour operators – Jet2holidays and easyJet Holidays.
For just over a third of what it would cost to hop over to Paris for Easter, travellers can enjoy a coastal break in Marmaris.
The resort town along the Turkish Riviera worked out at an average of £594 (€679) per person for a seven-night holiday including flights.
The seaside city basks in nine hours of sunshine a day and highs of 20C in April – six degrees warmer than Paris. It also offers open-air clubs and music venues along the harbour for those looking for some evening entertainment.
Adventure seekers can head out to the surrounding pine-forested mountains for hiking excursions or go diving to spot everything from octopuses and moray eels to ancient amphorae fragments.
Head to Poland, Portugal and Spain for budget Easter breaks
The second-cheapest destination in the ranking was Kraków, costing £628 (€718) per person on average.
The UNESCO-designated destination was Which? members’ favourite city break in 2025, rated the full five out of five stars for accommodation, food and drink and ease of getting around. It was also the only city in the survey rated five stars for value for money.
Kraków also received four stars for its cultural attractions, which include day trips to historical locations such as the Wieliczka Salt Mine, another UNESCO World Heritage site, Schindler’s Factory and the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum.
The sunny seaside city of Albufeira in Portugal ranked the third-cheapest city break, with an average holiday cost of £638 (€729) per person.
It is located in the southern Algarve region, which was named the world’s best value destination by the UK’s Post Office in 2025.
While you’re there, you can also visit Praia da Falésia, a beach hailed as one of the best in the world thanks to its ochre cliffs with spectacular views.
Two Spanish destinations came in fourth and fifth place in the Which? ranking. Las Palmas in the Canary Islands costs around £671 (€767) per person for a week, while Benidorm is priced at £682 (€780).
Both offer the chance of a break in the sun, with average temperatures of 21C and 19C respectively.
