Top EU financial official Pierre Moscovici visits Athens

The European Commissioner for Economics Pierre Moscovici is in Athens for two days to check in with Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and on progress on the countrys cash for reforms programme. The visit comes ahead of a crucial vote in the Greek parliament on unpopular reforms and just days before EU finance ministers meet in Brussels to decide if Greece efforts merit a 2 billion euro lifeline.

With consumer confidence still low and unemployment high, the government still has many issues to resolve like the value added tax rate on education and the settlement of non performing loans in return for fresh bailout money. And as our correspondent in Athens Stamatis Giannisis says, the creditors are not easily convinced. He says that despite the Greek governments promise to honor commitments on time, international creditors are sceptical about the pace and depth of reforms.
