For over a decade, the Democratic Republic of Congo had been ravaged by what many refer to as Africa’s first world war. The fighting was concentrated in the east, where entire rural communities were either massacred or became refugees.

After years of being kept alive by international aid many are finally returning to what were once their homes and farms. Innovative agricultural methods may hold the key to ending DR Congo’s ongoing cycle of poverty.
