The Spanish singer was forced to end her Milan concert and leave the stage after feeling unwell. Rosalía apologised profusely to the audience which sent her on her way with best wishes and a standing ovation.
Pop singer Rosalía is recovering after being forced to cut short a concert in Milan on Wedneday after suffering severe food poisoning.
The Spanish artist broke the news herself to the crowd in Italy during her performance.
The incident, which took place at the Unipol Forum, forced the singer to stop the show, so she chose to explain what was happening to the crowd, a moment captured in videos recorded by concertgoers and later shared on social media.
"I’ve tried to do this concert. I’ve been ill from the start. I’ve had really bad food poisoning," she said in English to the audience, in a video shared on X. Visibly shaken, she added: "I tried to hold on until the end, but I feel extremely unwell. I’m being sick out there. I really wanted to give you the best concert."
At one point during the show, Rosalía said she would try to continue if her condition allowed, but she eventually left the stage, apologising to the audience as she was seen off with a rousing ovation.
By the next day, the singer had already turned to social media to announce that she was feeling "better". "Thank you so much for all the love and understanding from everyone who was there yesterday," she wrote on her Instagram account, alongside a photo in which she can be seen with an IV drip bag and a catheter in her arm.
The artist, recently recognised as best international artist at the Brit Awards, has received widespread acclaim for her fourth album, ‘Lux’, a spiritually themed work that marks an unexpected departure from her previous sound, which was more heavily influenced by flamenco and R&B. The record features songs in 13 languages, including German, English and Sicilian, as well as her native Spanish.
Rosalía's international tour began earlier this month in France and will conclude in Puerto Rico in September.
