Italian design duo Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana found inspiration close to home for their Autumn-Winter collection presented at Milan Fashion week on Sunday March 1.

The winter look was colourful and full of fun, and was a celebration of motherhood. Some of the models carried babies down the catwalk, one of them quite literally; Bianca Balti, six months pregnant herself, was able to show off her bump as well as Dolce and Gabbana’s threads for next winter.

D&G’s fellow Italian designer Robert Cavalli presented his Autumn-Winter collection, dominated by ancient Chinese shapes and, again, plenty of colour.

Cavalli brought back his trademark animal prints in a collection that he himself described as “fun”, featuring skirts that were either very short or very long worn beneath long coats.

Donatella Versace’s vision for next winter was bright and full of logos. Primary colours were at the fore in the form of thigh-high boots, capes, fur and tight trousers.

The simpler black numbers were enhanced with cut-out patterns across the chest or combined with large buckled belts and logo-printed tights.
