The research showed many rich industrialised counties have poor cybersecurity, while in some cases less affluent states have systems that are difficult to hack.
The wealthier the nation the more it is at risk of cybercrime, though according to the UN, awareness of the potential problem does not corralate to the level of defences in place.
The US is the second most cybersecure followed by Malaysia, Oman and Estonia.
Russia is ranked 11th and China 34th.
Equatorial Guinea scored zero.
