Shares in the company Amazon have gone past the 1,000 dollar mark for the first time.
It is a major new milestone for the online seller, which has grown into one of the world’s biggest companies in terms of market value.
Its capitalisation is reported to have reached 500 billion US dollars this week.
Based in Seattle, the company began mainly as a bookseller on the web in 1995.
