Holiday company shares have been hit by Britain’s move to suspend flights to and from the Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh – a decision criticised by Cairo.
Thomas Cook fell by five percent, while the TUI Group was also affected, with shares down two percent.
Investigators are examining the possibility that a bomb caused last weekend’s crash of a Russian airliner over the Sinai Peninsula.
Easyjet’s shares rose slightly; the low-cost airline has cancelled several flights from Britain to Sharm el-Sheikh.
The British travel association ABTA estimates there are about 9,000 holidaymakers with its members currently at the resort.
