Documents seen by "Jornal de Notícias" show that one of the world’s most high-profile couples chose separation of property, with their five children and four witnesses attending the ceremony.
New information has emerged about the most eagerly awaited wedding of the year. The "Jornal de Notícias" (source in Portuguese) obtained the marriage certificate of Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez, reporting that the civil ceremony took place at the couple's home in Cascais on Tuesday 11 August, at 1.30 pm.

On site, in addition to their five children,as had initially been revealed by the agency representing the player, there were also four witnesses. They were Miguel Paixão, a friend of the footballer since his youth days at Sporting, Ivana Rodríguez, Georgina's sister, and Jose Rodríguez Sangil and Monica Gonzalez Martinez, a Spanish jeweller and his wife.
The marriage was formalised by Maria Manuel Folhadela de Oliveira, a registrar who travelled from the city of Porto to perform the ceremony.
The document also reveals that the Portuguese footballer and his wife opted for the separation of property regime (source in Portuguese). Under this arrangement, each spouse generally retains as their own the assets they already held before the wedding, as well as those they acquire afterwards.
However, the separation of property regime is not the default model for marriages in Portugal and, to choose it, couples must sign a prenuptial agreement. In Cristiano and Georgina's case, the document shows that this agreement was signed the day before the ceremony, at a notary's office in Lisbon.
Moreover, according to the document seen by "Jornal de Notícias", neither of them adopted the other's surname following the ceremony, and they continue to list the Saudi capital, Riyadh, as their usual place of residence.
The couple, who have been together since 2016 and announced their engagement in August 2025, thus formalised a relationship that had been the subject of speculation for months.
And, contrary to what many had expected, Ronaldo and Georgina chose an intimate ceremony to take this step. In fact, on the previous Saturday, hundreds of people had gathered near Funchal Cathedral in Madeira, where the footballer was born, convinced they would witness the wedding of one of the world's most high-profile couples – which did not happen.
The document now made public by "Jornal de Notícias" does not list Dolores Aveiro, Cristiano Ronaldo's mother, nor the footballer's sisters, Elma and Katia Aveiro, among those present at the celebration.
