Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez were married on Tuesday in a discreet ceremony in Cascais, a small picturesque coastal resort west of the capital Lisbon.
Cristiano Ronaldo wrong-footed everyone and tied the knot behind closed doors, with no fans in the stands and no media watching, exactly one year after his marriage proposal.

Arguably, the most eagerly awaited 'YESSS' of the year took place on Tuesday 11 August, in Cascais, where the couple have a new home, at an intimate civil ceremony attended only by their five children, according to their press office.
Although no one else appears to have been invited, the world still received a keepsake at the end of the ceremony. The newlyweds treated their millions of followers with a photograph of their hands, showing their wedding rings. In the caption, a discreet "C" and "G".
The image, shared on both their Instagram accounts, surpassed four million likes in less than 40 minutes.
Everything that was written and speculated about Cristiano Ronaldo's wedding turned out, in itself, to be more interesting than the ceremony.
Anticipation reached fever pitch last Sunday in Madeira when the island where the football star was born was invaded by well-wishers and the world's press following rumours the celebrity couple would tie the knot there. Instead, another innocent couple's nuptials at Funchal's Sé Cathedral had the paparazzi treatment as they enjoyed a brief brush with fame.
Of all the theories spun around the ceremony, only one came close to reality: the date. The wedding did indeed take place in August. However, no one expected it to be on a Tuesday and such a low-key affair.
Almost nothing is known about the intimate family occasion, but some media outlets reported that Georgina wore white with long sleeves.

From Gucci to the 37-carat oval diamond
The story of Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez began in 2016.
