A rare Red Panda that escaped from Belfast Zoo in the early hours of Monday morning has been found.

Twitter users were following the search, with many delighted that the creature was found safe and well. Although some responses were more helpful that others.

The local city council raised the alarm when the Panda initially went missing and asked residents in the Glengormley area to be vigilant.

The Northern Irish police adopted a pleasant-spirited tone when announcing the news on Facebook in the early hours of Monday Morning.

According to the Red Panda Network, the creatures are "elusive and rarely-seen mammals found in the mountain forests of Nepal, India, Bhutan, China and Myanmar."

The species is under a growing threat and listed as endangered, with less than 10,000 left in the wild.
