About 150 skiers in Austria had to be rescued after their chairlift broke down

About 150 skiers had to be rescued from a chairlift in central Austria after it broke down.

The stranded passengers were stuck on the Rosenkranz chairlift in the mountains around Kreischberg for several hours before being rescued by helicopters.

The lift suffered technical problems earlier in the afternoon and authorities decided it would take too long to repair it. So they decided to evacuate the skiers instead.

Local police said all the passengers were safely rescued from the chairlift and there were no injuries.
