A rush hour stampede has killed 15 people at Elphinstone railway station in Mumbai, India.

A rush hour stampede at the railway station in the Indian financial hub of Mumbai has killed at least 15 people and injured more than 20 say medical sources.

Platforms were busy and trains were packed when chaos ensued.

“Everybody was falling on top of us. So the first three or four ladies, we don’t know what happened to them, seriously I don’t know their condition or anything,” said one young man.

The cause of the stampede at the Elphinstone railway station amid a heavy downpour is being investigated said a police official at the site of the accident.
