US President Donald Trump has confirmed that he is under investigation as part of an inquiry in to alleged Russian interference in last year’s election.
In a tweet he also appeared to accuse Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein of a witch hunt.
“I am being investigated for firing the FBI Director by the man who told me to fire the FBI Director! Witch Hunt,” he tweeted.

Rosenstein wrote a memo to the White House which was used to justify the firing of the ex-FBI chief.
The president has repeatedly complained about the inquiry, which has cast a shadow over his first five months in office.
