The bloodshed is continuing in Afghanistan.

At least 12 people have been killed while attending the funeral near Kabul of a victim of Friday’s clashes between police and protesters . At least 18 have been injured.

The wave of violence began with a massive truck bomb earlier this week which claimed more than 80 lives.

“What we want is for the international community, like the UN or the EU, to put pressure on this government to at least provide security for Afghans. That is all we are asking, we are not asking for anything else,” a bystander told reporters.

Locals gathered nearby to press their call for better security.

The Taliban issued a swift denial that it played any role in Saturday’s attack. A spokesman blamed factional rivalries in the government.
