Six young asylum seekers are on trial for attempted murder in Germany for a fire attack on a homeless man at a metro station in Berlin.

A seventh migrant is charged with failing to assist the Polish man who was saved after passengers put out the flames.

The defendants, aged between 16 and 21, are from Syria and Libya.

The alleged ringleader is a 21-year-old, accused of placing a lighted handkerchief next to the sleeping victim.
