Round 18 of the EuroLeague regular season got underway on Thursday evening and defending champions CSKA continued to set the pace at the summit of the standings with their latest victory coming against Brose Bamberg.
Despite being without star players Milos Teodosic and Corey Higgins CSKA put on a commanding performance in front of their home fans in the Russian capital to secure an 85-64 win over the German side.
Nando De Colo was in fine fettle and paced the winners with 26 points while Kyle Hines didn’t miss a shot to chip in with 13 points.
CSKA remain at the top of the 16-team standings with 14 wins and 4 defeats while Bamberg’s second successive defeat drops them to a 12th best 7-11 record.
Elsewhere on the night last season’s losing finalists Fenerbache defeated Panathinaikos in a battle of the competition heavyweights.
As irony would have it Fenerbache head coach Zeljko Obradovic marked his 100th EuroLeague game by beating the team he led for 13 years and with whom he won the competition five times.
The Turkish side were dominant throughout and at half time were leading by 16 points.
Fenerbache kept a double-digit margin all the way until the final buzzer to win through 84-63 and improve their record to a fifth best 11-7.
