Jordan’s first ever Olympic medalist Abu Ghaush was treated to a hero’s welcome as he arrived back home on Tuesday night.

The 20-year-old, who won Taekwondo gold in the men’s 68kg category, was received by a number of royal family figures including King Abdullah’s uncle Prince Hassan, as well as his son Prince Rashed.

Abu Ghaush claimed Jordan’s first ever Olympic medal when he outclassed Russian Alexey Denisenko in the showpiece match.

Although he was seeded 10th in Rio, the young sensation used his quick footwork to score a 10-6 upset win over the 2012 London Games bronze medallist.

A sweet treat by royaljordanian</a> congratulating Ahmad Abughaush on his gold medal.
