Drivers, mechanics and backup staff on the Africa Eco Race spent the day in Daklha in Morocco getting some much needed “R&R,” before setting off towards the Moroccan border with Mauritania and the No Mans Land that separates the two countries.

There then follows a weeks racing in Mauritania.

For the mechanics it was chance to catch up on repair work and tinkering after five stages of hard desert racing.

The race leaders Norway’s Pal anders Ullevalseter on the motorbikes and Kazakh Kanat Shagirov in the cars a chance to plot, sleep and spend time enjoying the waterfront location.
