It is reported at least ten people have died after a TGV derailed in north-eastern France.

The high-speed train was carrying out tests at Eckwersheim (Bas-Rhin) near Strasbourg.

The train plunged into a nearby canal, broke up and caught fire. 49 people have been injured.

Early indications suggest the engine came off the rails and hit a bridge before catching fire. It was carrying technical staff who were doing tests.

Experts say there is no suggestion of a link with the ongoing events in Paris.
