Lionel Messi could be out for up to eight weeks after suffering a knee injury just minutes into Barcelona’s match with Las Palmas on Saturday.

The Argentina forward was forced to leave the pitch in the ninth minute before Luis Suárez scored twice to lift the Blaugranas to the top of La Liga.

Messi, a four-time Ballon d’Or winner, was enjoying another fine start to the 2015-16 campaign, having scored three goals in four La Liga starts.

He could possibly return for the Clasico against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu on Nov. 21.
