Double gold win for Japan at World Judo Championships

Japan’s Kaori Matsumoto clinched a victory in the 57kg category at the World Judo Championships in Kazakhstani capital, Astana .
The London Olympic Gold medallist defeated Romania’s Corina Caprioriu with a precise ko-soto-gari for waza-ari.
Matsumoto has struggled with injuries in recent years but this win proves she is back at the top of her game.
Automne Pavia of France and Mongolia’s double World Judo Masters winner Sumiya Dorjsuren took home bronze medals.
In the men’s 73kg event, Japan’s Shohei Ono has regained the world title from his fellow countryman and teammate Riki Nakaya.
Ono was victories with a ko-soto-gari for waza-ari.
The bronze medals went to South Korea’s An Chang-Rim and Nyam-Ochir Sainjargal of Mongolia.
