Portugal makes final tribute to footballer Eusebio

The remains of legendary footballer Eusebio have been placed in Portugal’s National Pantheon, where outstanding historic figures are kept.

His coffin, drapped in the Portuguese flag, was taken around the streets of the capital Lisbon before a formal ceremony.

Eusebio died in January 2014 aged 71.

Parliament’s approval was required to move his remains to the Pantheon.

Eusebio is the first footballer to be moved there.
