With no deal in sight in Brussels, the deadlock is becoming increasingly painful for Greeks waiting for an end to the bailout saga.

Even tourists are taking precautions with their spending money.

One visitor from Belgium said, “We took a bit more euros than normally, because a lot of Greeks withdrew massively their euros. So we wanted to avoid running out of money.” “I am very anxious because after so many years of trying hard, we are worried that everything will collapse,” explained Dimitris Klimis, a lawyer in Athens. “The majority of Greeks does not want to leave the eurozone.”

“Its about time the Europe changes direction and shows a more human face,” said Athens resident Giannis Exarxos. “A deal must be reached that give a boost to growth. We’ve had enough with wage cuts and austerity.”

Euronews correspondent in Athens Nikoletta Kritikou sums up the mood saying,

“ People are waiting anxiously for the results of Monday’s critical eurozone summit in Brussels. They hope that in the end, a sustainable agreement will be reached that will give a final answer to the scenarios that would push Greece out of the eurozone.”
