Italy enjoyed their second Archery gold medal from European Games in Baku, Azerbaijan on Thursday.

Natalia Valeeva, Guendalina Sartori and Elena Tonetta joined forces to beat Belarus 5-3 to win the women’s team event.

It was the second triumph in Baku for Valeeva who also struck gold with Mauro Nespoli in the mixed competition.

Meanwhile at the Baku Shooting Centre, Henri Junghaenel earned himself a spot next year’s Rio Olympics when he beat Italian Marco de Nicolo to win the men’s 50m rifle prone.

Reigning Olympic champion Sergei Martynov of Belarus took bronze.

Dutch cyclist Ellen Van Dijk defied the hot and windy conditions to win the women’s individual time trial.

The former World and European champion took gold ahead of Ukraine’s Ganna Solovei and fellow Dutchwoman Annemiek Van Vleuten.
