Barcelona star Neymar named in transfer fraud lawsuit

Barcelona’s troubled transfer saga took another twist on Wednesday.
Neymar has been named in a lawsuit concerning his transfer.
Brazilian investment fund DIS, which owned 40 percent of Neymar’s transfer rights, argue it was defrauded millions of euros when the player joined Barca in 2013.
A Spanish judge has agreed to allow the fraud case to go ahead.
The complaint also names Barca president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, his predecessor, Sandro Rosell, Neymar’s father and his former club Santos.
Barcelona are already facing trial for tax fraud concerning Neymar’s transfer from Santos.
Investigators allege that Barcelona paid €83.3m for Neymar, but declared only €57.1m in an attempt to mislead tax authorities.
The allegations surrounding Neymar’s transfer led to the resignation of then club president Rosell in January of last year.
