America’s Lindsey Vonn won the season-ending World Cup downhill at Meribel to secure the discipline’s crystal globe, the 18th of her career.

The 30-year-old bagged her seventh downhill title in one minute and 29.87 seconds, equalling another of Austrian Annemarie Moser-Proell’s records set in the 1970s.

Back from a year off and two knee operations in December, Vonn beat Austria’s Elisabeth Goergl with 2007 World Cup champion Nicole Hosp completing the podium.
