Argentina’s Orlando Terranova kept his composure to claim the 7th stage of the Dakar Rally on Saturday.

The Mini driver, who had already won twice this year, completed the 321km trek from Opoqueri to Uyuni in an impressive time of 3 hours, 31 minutes and 18 seconds to seal the win while Toyota’s Yazeed Al-Rajhi had to settle for second place after crossing the finish line 2 minutes and 20 seconds behind.

Qatar’s Nasser al Attiyah endured a disappointing day. The Mini driver finished 9 minutes and 48 seconds behind Terranova and his now just 8 minutes and 14 seconds ahead of nearest rival Giniel de Villiers in the overall standings.

In the truck category, Ales Loprais secured his first stage victory while overnight leader Eduard Nikolaev dropped to fourth place going into stage 8, a 784km trek from Uyuni to Iquique.
