Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard is on the verge of signing an 18-month contract to play for the LA Galaxy.

The 34-year old announced he would quit Liverpool at the end of the season last week adding he would not join a rival Premier League club.

Gerrard will join the MLS franchise when his Liverpool contract runs out in June and will reportedly earn 7.6 million euros for his 18-month stint.

At the Galaxy he will join up with former Liverpool team-mate Robbie Keane, who was voted the MLS Most Valuable Player for the 2014 season.

Gerrard- who inspired Liverpool to the 2005 Champions League title joined The Reds aged nine and has gone on to score 180 goals in 695 games.

He won 114 England caps before his international retirement after last summer’s World Cup in Brazil.
