A mother in Australia has been arrested for murder after eight children were stabbed to death on Friday.
The 37-year-old, who hasn’t been named, was the mother of seven of the eight victims. The eighth child killed was a niece who was visiting. They were all aged between 18 months and 15 years old.
Police were called to the house in the Cairns suburb of Manoora, in the country’s north. They found the woman with serious injuries. She was taken to a hospital where she was later arrested and is now being kept under guard.
Prime Minister Tony Abbott called the incident an “unspeakable crime.”
