A Japanese schoolgirl who killed and dismembered her classmate has allegedly confessed to the crime, according to reports.

A local news agency quoted police sources that claim the girl said “she wanted to kill someone”.

The body of Aiwa Matsuo was found in the suspect’s home on Sunday morning after her parents reported her missing and called the police.

The 15-year-old was struck on the back of the head with a tool and then strangled. Her head and left hand was severed and her stomach cut open.

Police are said to have found a hammer and saw in the suspect’s home.

The 16-year-old is also alleged to have posted messages on an internet bulletin board with pictures of a bloody hand two hours after the murder.
