Defending champion Sebastien Ogier held his nerve to claim his fourth win of the 2014 World Rally Championship season in Italy on Sunday.
It was the Frenchman’s 20th overall victory on the rally circuit and his fourth this season, having already triumphed in Monaco, Mexico and Portugal this term.
This result sees him extend his overall lead to 33 points while Volkswagen Motorsport have moved on to 227 points in the manufacturers’ rankings.
Second placed Mads Ostberg finished 1 minute 23 seconds off the pace while Mikko Hirvonen was forced to withdraw after his Ford Fiesta caught fire on Friday.
