1- Do risk management programmes reduce the impact of disasters?
2- Do we need to adopt a “disaster-readiness attitude”?

Risk Management

We tend to view disaster as an exceptional natural or technical event that interrupt “normal” development but in reality a wide variety of factors may increase the risk of a disaster. Geographer Valérie November is one of our experts on disasters. She works on the spaces and times of risk and conducts analysis on the whole chain of risk: from risk reduction, to preparedness and risk management.

Valérie November has written several books on risk management in cases of natural disasters such as flooding or technological disasters as black-outs, and in general, on urban risks.
