New footage has emerged of plane crash in Malta that killed five people.

Laurent Azzopardi saw the tragedy played out in front of him as he drove to work on Monday, October 24.

A camera mounted on the dashboard of the car he was driving captured the plane’s descent and the subsequent fireball.

The twin-propeller Fairchild Metroliner plane came down near the runway of the southern Mediterranean island nation’s main airport in the morning, sending smoke billowing into the sky.

Three French defence ministry officials and two pilots died in the crash, reported Reuters.

The small aircraft was conducting a surveillance mission over the Mediterranean for France’s defence ministry.
