About 100 Indigenous protesters blocked the main entrance to the COP30 climate talks near the Brazilian Amazon on Friday morning.
The standoff lasted around 90 minutes and ended after discussions with conference president André Corrêa do Lago, who was seen holding a protester’s baby during the exchange.
The Brazilian military prevented the group from entering the venue. Protesters said they wanted a voice at the negotiation table. A side entrance was later opened to allow some participants to enter the conference.
The demonstration followed clashes earlier in the week and underscored ongoing demands for stronger Indigenous representation at the talks.
