Snow began falling in the early morning hours, quickly turning streets, cars, and rooftops into a winter wonderland, catching residents off guard as they anticipated April flowers rather than snow.
Governor Vasip Şahin announced a one-day closure of schools and granted administrative leave for certain public employees. Snow removal teams were dispatched across the city as a precaution.
While the snowfall disrupted daily routines, it brought a welcome boost to Ankara’s water reserves, which had been critically low at just 26.19% capacity, with only 16.20% considered usable.
