Thousands of “zombies” pedalled through the streets of Key West, Florida during the Zombie Bike Ride, part of the Fantasy Fest, and the first major special event there since Hurricane Irma struck in early September.
Adults, children and dogs all took part, sporting white face paint, “bloodied” clothes and creepy masks and wigs as they cycled along the Atlantic Ocean shore.
Some made reference to the hurricane, carrying signs that read “Irma Go Away” and “FEMA” (Federal Emergency Management Agency) attached to a skeleton doll.
Around 6,000 people participated in the Zombie Bike Ride, just one of the events of the Fantasy Fest, which features dozens of costume-themed events and competitions and runs through Sunday, October 29.
