A sumo grand champion, or Yokozuna, has performed a ring-entering ceremony at a UNESCO World Heritage site in Japan’s ancient capital of Kyoto.
The event was held at Kamigamo Shrine on Sunday.
Yokozuna Kisenosato performed the ritual in the unryu-style. Spectators cheered as he stamped the ground.
Kisenosato is the first Japanese born and bred sumo grand champion in nearly two decades.
